I was often described as a lazy boy at School. I was not known as a mathematician, indeed, I found Maths an extremely challenging subject. I had several attempts at GCSE Maths before I achieved that prized C grade. My experience as a schoolboy has shaped my teaching career. I chose to teach a subject that I found difficult. My primary reason for this was that I understood and continue to understand why children may find Maths a frightening, intimidating or impossible subject. Understanding a child’s perspective is vital to be able to be an effective and emotionally intelligent teacher.
I have taught Maths and English in both the state and private sector. My experience is from Year 7 to Year 11.. I am very familiar and experienced with Edexcel, AQA, Eduqas and iGCSE exam boards and syllabi.
My approach is a simple one. My role is to support and nurture my tutees in order to build confidence, break down barriers and give every chance of success. I am empathetic, understanding and patient.
