I am an enthusiastic and dedicated PGCE qualified maths and English tutor with over 20 years experience of teaching a variety of primary and secondary school pupils (ages 4-16) to reach their potential.
I specialise in teaching English up to GCSE level and maths up to KS3 as well as preparing children for the 11+ examinations.
I have also taught abroad in Ghana, Africa and in Cambodia. This has shaped my creative teaching career and inspired me to teach online to new pupils also.
I have been successful in raising attainment and achievement in schools through intervention and the pupils have progressed with increased confidence and capability.
My masters level credits during my PGCE have enabled me to understand educational pedagogy and teaching the child holistically. I fully believe that if students are enjoying their learning, they will achieve the best results.
Tutoring Experience
I have taught a wide variety of pupils over 20 years. Results have always been positive where children have thrived. Working using the child-centred approach, I am able to work with the pupil's hobbies and interests. My lessons are easily modified, which helps pupils reach smart targets and their full potential.
Tutoring Approach
I structure sessions using a warm-up starter (which focus on key targets from last session) then this continues to focusing on the main key objectives for the session and then a fun plenary to end the session. This structure keeps learning fun, engaging and suitably paced.
