UCAS 2027: Application Dates, Fees, Deadlines & How to Apply

UCAS 2027: All You Need to Know
Applying to university can feel complicated, especially when you are trying to understand UCAS 2027 application dates, fees, deadlines, university choices and Clearing.
The good news is that planning early can make the process much easier. Whether you are applying for medicine, dentistry, engineering, law, business or another undergraduate degree, understanding the UCAS 2027 application process is an important first step.
In this guide, Vital Educators explains everything students need to know about applying to UK universities through UCAS for 2027 entry.

 What Is UCAS?
UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) is the central application service used for most undergraduate university applications in the UK.
Instead of applying separately to every university, students normally create a UCAS application and can make up to five choices. Your application includes information such as your education, qualifications, course choices, personal statement and reference.

UCAS 2027 Key Dates You Need to Know
One of the most important parts of the UCAS 2027 application process is knowing the deadlines.
Here are the key dates currently published by UCAS:
28 April 2026, 2027 courses become available in the UCAS search tool
12 May 2026, Students can start their 2027 application
1 September 2026, Completed applications can be submitted
15 October 2026, 18:00 UK time, Deadline for Oxford and Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses
13 January 2027, 18:00 UK time, Equal consideration deadline for most undergraduate courses
25 February 2027, UCAS Extra opens
30 June 2027, 18:00 UK time, Applications received after this point are automatically entered into Clearing
2 July 2027, Clearing opens
23 September 2027, 18:00 UK time, Final date for 2027 applications
Important: Students applying for medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine/science, Oxford or Cambridge should pay particular attention to the 15 October 2026 deadline.
UCAS Application Fee 2027
For 2027 entry, the UCAS application fee is £34.50 for up to five choices. UCAS also provides fee-waiver arrangements for eligible students, including certain students who have received UK government-funded free school meals and care leavers.
This means students should budget for the application fee when preparing their UCAS application 2027.

When Can You Apply Through UCAS for 2027?
Students could begin registering and preparing their 2027 application from 12 May 2026, but completed applications could not be submitted to UCAS until 1 September 2026.
Starting early gives students more time to:
Research universities and courses
Compare entry requirements
Prepare their personal statement
Organise their qualifications
Arrange their reference
Check important deadlines
Review their application before submitting

Don't wait until the deadline to discover that something is missing.

What Do You Need for a UCAS Application?
A successful UCAS application 2027 requires more than simply selecting a university.
Students should prepare:
1. Personal Information
Make sure your personal details are accurate.
2. Education and Qualifications
Add your schools, colleges, qualifications, grades and examinations.
3. University and Course Choices
Research courses carefully before making your choices.
4. Personal Statement
Your personal statement is an opportunity to explain your motivation, experiences, skills and suitability for your chosen subject.
5. Reference
Your application normally needs a reference before it can be submitted.

UCAS confirms that the application includes education, employment/extracurricular information, personal statement and a reference.

How Many Universities Can You Apply to Through UCAS?
Students can normally select up to five choices on their UCAS undergraduate application.
However, some courses have special considerations. For example, the 15 October deadline applies to Oxford and Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses.
This is why choosing courses strategically is important.

What Happens If You Miss the UCAS Deadline?
Missing the main deadline does not necessarily mean your university plans are over.
UCAS states that applications can still be submitted after the main deadlines, although universities do not have to consider late applications in the same way. The 30 June 2027 deadline is particularly important because applications received after this time are automatically entered into Clearing.
UCAS Clearing 2027 opens on 2 July 2027 and can help eligible students find courses that still have vacancies.

How Vital Educators Can Help With Your UCAS Journey
There are many ways students can prepare for university: studying independently, asking teachers for help, using free online resources or working with a private tutor.

Vital Educators offers another option: personalised online tuition designed around the student's academic needs.

For students preparing for UK university applications, targeted tutoring can be particularly useful when they need support with academic subjects, GCSEs, A Levels or university preparation.
Rather than relying entirely on generic online resources, students can use one-to-one tutoring to identify areas that need improvement and work through them systematically.
Vital Educators can be a strong option for students who want:
Flexible online tuition
Subject-focused academic support
Help preparing for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Personalised learning
Support alongside their wider university preparation

The advantage is that tutoring can complement the UCAS process rather than replacing it. Students still make their own university choices and complete their UCAS application, while academic support can help them become better prepared for the demands of higher education.
