About Lloyd
A JLPT N2-certified Japanese learner and former translator for a Japanese newspaper, I know how best to teach Japanese to keen learners. My love for Nintendo inspired me to start learning Japanese in 2012, leading to a move to Japan in 2015. My other hobbies are YouTube content creation, chess, performing music, and resistance training.
Teaching experience
I began teaching instruments in-person in 2012. I was a sole trader who personalised my lessons by creating sheet music for songs my students wanted to learn. I have a 100% pass rate for Rock School guitar exams and ABRSM piano exams. I moved to Japan and taught English in schools from 2015 to 2019, and from 2023 to 2025 to immerse myself in my target language. In between, I taught English and Japanese online, using a broad variety of exercises, games, listening activities, grammar explanations, and personalized homework for students.
