Maral A.

I'm Maral, a first-year Medical Student at Brunel University of London. I'm a multilingual tutor, fluent in Persian, Turkish and English. I teach Biology, Chemistry, as well as helping students prepare for Medicine interviews. I've always had a strong passion for Human Biology and Chemistry, and I've been eager to share my knowledge and help others understand subjects they may find challenging. Having worked hard towards my own medical school journey, I was fortunate to receive several offers from Irish medical schools before ultimately choosing to study at Brunel. Having lived in three different countries and travelled extensively, I've had the opportunity to meet people from a wide range of backgrounds, which has helped me become adaptable, approachable, and understanding. I find it incredibly rewarding to see students gain confidence, make progress, and achieve their goals, and I aim to make every lesson engaging, supportive, and tailored to the individual.

I have previous experience through the Peer Mentor Programme, where I have supported younger students with their studies. As part of the programme, I have helped students with subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Medicine Interviews and occasionally English, adapting my explanations to their individual needs and helping them build their understanding and confidence, resulting in over 80% of the students getting A/A* grades and medicine offers.

My teaching style is flexible and tailored to each student's individual needs, as I believe everyone learns differently. I first like to understand what the student wants to achieve and which areas they find most challenging, and then adapt my lessons accordingly. Generally, I like to build a strong understanding of the theory before putting it into practice. For subjects such as Biology and Chemistry, this would usually involve working through exam-style and practice questions together. For Medicine interview preparation, I would use mock interviews and realistic scenarios, while for languages, I would focus on conversation and practical communication. My aim is always to make lessons engaging and supportive while helping students build both their knowledge and confidence.
